Where is God?

Whenever there is a disaster, natural or otherwise, many people ask where God was when the disaster happened? Obviously, this is a question a lot of people are asking after Katrina, and I am sure there are those who feel abandoned by God. There is a scripture in 1 Kings that I think particularly applies to the situation many are facing on the Gulf coast. I am not going to offer any commentary, I think the scripture speaks for itself:

He said, "Go out and stand on the mountain before the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by." Now there was a great wind, so strong that it was splitting mountains and breaking rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of sheer silence. --1 Kings 19:11-12

Please continue to pray for those who have been affected by hurricane Katrina and those who are trying to care for them.
